Baxter Park
Client: Dundee City Council
Overview: Environmental improvements including street furniture, drainage channels and terrace improvements
Timing: November 2006 - April 2007
Contract Value: £533,000
We were awarded the contract to upgrade the terrace area and footpaths within Dundee’s Baxter Park. The project focused on the area outside the recently refurbished Victorian sandstone pavilion.
We resurfaced the footpaths and roadway with an asphalt wearing course, using a proprietary resin-bonded aggregate finish. Galvanised steel edging and recycled plastic edging was installed along the edges of the footpaths and road, while a turf strip was used to reinstate the verges.
We also installed a new lighting system along the edges of the entrance road, incorporating 118 ground-mounted recessed luminaries. New benches, cycle stands, litter bins and information cabinets were installed throughout Baxter Park, with many being set in new paved areas. Bespoke trip rails were also manufactured and installed.
The Pavilion had natural Yorkstone paving laid around the perimeter, plus a new floodlighting system installed. In addition, we created a new drainage system with slot drains and gullies installed in the carriageway.
