Millhall Roundabout
Client: Stirling Council
Overview: Construction of Dedicated Left-hand Lane including kerbing, road construction, drainage, street lighting and site-clearance works
Timing: February 2009 - May 2009
Contract Value: £280,000
We were awarded the contract to construct a dedicated left-turn lane from the A905 (Kerse Road) to the A91 at the Millhall Roundabout. The aim of the development was to relieve traffic congestion on the main route to and from Stirling.
The project involved the felling of the existing trees to the banking of the built-up roundabout, creating a dedicated running lane for delivery vehicles, stripping the existing topsoil, and importing 1500m³ of Class 1A fill to form the left turn lane to the banking of the existing roundabout. We also installed new drainage and street lighting systems.
We constructed the running lane of the new left turn lane. This included kerbing (type 1), a splitter island, full road make-up and drainage gullies. The existing carriageway adjacent to the new left turn lane was planed and resurfaced, while a new road marking system and dedicated bus stop lay-by were created.
